The mind may make the body sick,
but only the body
can help the mind be well again.

Meet Allison,
the woman behind New Leaf Nutrition.

Allison is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who started off as an artsy theatrical type and still does that on the side. When she's not busy transforming lives with the healing power of wellness coaching, you can probably find her creating moving art with LED fans... or something.
Allison was born on Broadway, NYC to a pair of soap opera stars who met on the set of Another World. She made her TV debut in an Avis commercial at 11 months old. Her job was to cry. She was a natural.
As a child she dabbled in art, writing, and of course drama, but what really piqued her interest was belly dancing. After being hypnotized at age 12 by a belly dancer in a Lebanese restaurant, Allison studied classical belly dance for the next 3 years with that same dancer until age 16.

At age 13, Allison went to her first yoga class with Heather Till. 5 years later, belly dance took a backseat, and Allison turned her attention to private yoga therapy with Heather. Their student-teacher relationship continues to this day. Heather inspired Allison to undergo training in Integrative Yoga Therapy between her nutrition degree and the dietetic internship.

Somewhere in there, Allison went to college. She liked it better than high school, but didn't have clear direction. Being a nerd, she studied Japanese and Chinese language, then did some far East traveling to test her skills.

Allison also had a 3D animation internship in her early 20s where she did 3D modeling and animation for several projects. She taught stop-motion animation at an art camp and briefly studied animation in college.

But none of this was working. Art school wasn't working. Language school wasn't working. So Allison took some time off to think. After some contemplative reflection, she landed on nutrition which was a far cry from everything she excelled at before.

But it worked.

Fast forward: Allison finished her nutrition degree, internship, board exam, continuing education, and now has 9.5 years of experience working as a clinical dietitian. Between the degree and the internship she became a yoga teacher. Between the board exam and the clinical experience, she rediscovered belly dance and found Tribal Fusion style, which is totally her thing.

Also dance fans... Those are also her thing.
Now Allison splits her time between the Chrysalis Center, Healing Together Counseling & Wellness, private nutrition and yoga clients, and dance gigs when she can squeeze them in comfortably.

It's a balanced life, and when it's not she knows how to find balance again.
